From Chicago to NYC: Briana & Brandon Orozco — Young, Driven, and Backed by Love
Today, we’re shining a spotlight on two outstanding young adults from the Unshackled: Building Bridges family — Briana and Brandon Orozco, the son and daughter of our amazing CEO Executive Secretary, Deyra Mercado.
This morning, they represented with pride and purpose at the Life Time Chicago Spring Half Marathon, running from Grant Park to raise awareness in the fight against cancer. Their commitment, drive, and heart on that course were nothing short of inspiring.
And they’re just getting warmed up.
On May 30, they’ll be heading to New York City to compete at HYROX, an elite global indoor fitness competition taking place at Pier 76 on the Hudson River. Originally founded in Germany in 2017, HYROX has grown into an international test of strength and endurance, drawing athletes from across Europe and the U.S.
And guess who’s going with them? Their proud mom — our very own Deyra— who’s making sure her babies (yes, young adults or not!) are fully supported every step of the way. Her dedication as a mother and leader in our organization reminds us all that behind every success story is someone who believed, nurtured, and showed up — again and again.
